MUSIC HOUSE Production has compiled Menino de Benaulim’s super hits in an audio album titled ‘Goencho Serkar Purtugez Kolvont’. The album features some of the Konkani stage’s best singers - Felcy, Lawry Travaso, Rosario de Benaulim, Tony de Ribandar, William de Curtorim, Francis de Tuem, Ben Evangelisto, Comedian Ambe, Menino Mario besides Jose, Denzo and Menino de Benaulim.
The CD contains 11 impressive tracks comprising of solos, duets and trios too. Comedian Ambe and Ben Evangelisto add a lot of impact to the CD with some entertaining comedy sequences divided in two parts. Ben once again proves why he is considered the best among character comedians. He plays the role of an old man who has lost all his teeth. With excellent voice modulation and rendition of dialogues appropriate to the character he is playing, Ben Evangelisto brings the character to life.
The album opens with the track ‘Jiv Sompoilo Kiteak?’ by Lawry Travaso - a well composed solo about a school-going child. Menino de Benaulim renders a comedy solo, ‘Balun Fuloita’, in a typical M. Boyer style. Menino-Francis and Tony come out strongly with the title song ‘Goencho Serkar Purtugez Kolvont’ - a political trio.
Talented singer and composer Rosario de Benaulim lends his appealing voice to ‘Tourist’ while Denzo de Benaulim chips in with ‘Burgeank Domki’ - an average track. A touching duet, ‘Niz Mogkornaram’, by Felcy and Menino Mario adds glamour to the album, while ‘Zaddpaleache Vokhodd’ by Jose is passable. Menino-Francis and Tony once again impress listeners with a power-packed trio titled ‘Scarlette’, which is a well composed song on the tragedy that rocked Goa early this year.
‘Idol Worship’ by Rosario de Benaulim is thought provoking and educative, which is followed by ‘Ghatki Ixtt’ by Menino de Benaulim. William de Curtorim’s fiery ‘Chopatti’ brings the album to a grand end. James Vaz has scored the appealing music for the album, which comes at a cover price of Rs. 150.
